This clay idol making area located at around 8Km from the temple town of Tirupati is one of its kind. You pick up a small idol or a big one (around 10ft), everything is made up of clay and the colours they use is echo friendly. The quarters allotted for these artisans was provided by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Late Shri N T Rama Rao under the TDP government some three decades ago. They start making the idols from the month of January itself. The clay ganeshas, though made from clay, look perfect once they are finished. The artisans first make the body parts separately, and then assemble them to make a full idol.
