Virupaksha Temple is the main center of pilgrimage at Hampi, and had been considered the most sacred sanctuary over the centuries. The Main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. However this temple being the oldest this was renovated by many kings which leaves this temple with inscriptions and painting of Lord Krishna as well.
